It forms a hollow space that is often filled with sebum and cellular material and occasionally also releases a secretion with an unpleasant odor. Cysts are usually benign. A trained eye is often enough to recognize the hemispherical cysts that sit on the surface of the skin. If a cyst becomes too large or inflamed, surgical removal is necessary. In the case of an inflamed cyst, it is usually necessary to wait until the inflammation has subsided before treatment is carried out.      Lipomas are benign tumors that develop from fat cells. In most cases, they are localized in the subcutaneous fatty tissue. Lipomas can be felt as soft, displaceable lumps that can vary considerably in size.
