Acne often manifests itself with blackheads (comedones) and pustules (pimples) and mainly affects teenagers, but also occurs in adults. It should not be considered “normal” to have pustules, as acne can have both physical and social consequences. Especially during puberty, severe acne can not only leave scars, but also affect self-confidence and make social contacts difficult.
Topical treatments such as creams or solutions can often achieve good results. In severe cases, antibiotics or vitamin A acid in tablet form are helpful, but this requires close coordination and, in the case of minors, parental consent.
For extensive scars from severe acne, we use the KTP laser or the CO2 laser.
