Altered birthmark

An altered mole or dysplastic nevus is a pigmented mole that has conspicuous features and can transform into a malignant melanoma. As the ABCDE rule for assessing moles tends to confuse laypersons, a trained dermatologist’s view using a reflected light microscope is still necessary. If moles are classified by us as conspicuous, we will remove them surgically and send them to a histology laboratory.
