Rosacea

Rosacea progresses in phases. In the first stage, it appears as a fleeting, occasional reddening of the face, also known as couperose. After that, the redness remains permanently visible. It is caused by a permanent dilation of the small, superficial blood vessels in the skin. In later stages, reddened papules and small pustules develop. The eyes can also be affected and become inflamed. Rosacea is one of the most common dermatoses in adulthood.
Nodules and pustules are signs of inflammation. They can be treated well with topical creams. The medication must be applied for several weeks to allow the skin changes to subside. In some cases, antibiotics are also prescribed in tablet form.
The annoying red veins in particular can be gently and effectively removed with a KTP laser. The laser obliterates the small vessels so that they remain permanently closed.
